Arrived early to the gym because of the amount of work that faced me. Not only did I have to do my normal routine, but it was washing day and I had to go around to every machine and clean what I could, make sure they had the same amount of weights, and even cleaned off the bars due to how dirty they were. I even mopped the rubber mats that hold all the dumb bells and free weights, and then proceeded to work on the wooden floor of the calisthenics room, to make sure its up to snuff. I had a younger man, around twenty five come in and bought a six month member ship which was good,
Very simple morning. Opened the gym at 5:00 a.m. and got all my chores done. Once I was done with those, I did the usual checking accounts when people signed in, not much more. Once 9:00 a.m. rolled by, there had been three potential members whom I had helped out with by taking them on tours of the facility, sharing the different membership scenario's, and letting them know they were able to workout for free on their first visit. Once that was done, I emptied my trash and left the gym to Isaak, who replaced me.
For my shift in Team Sports, it was extremely slow. Literally was worried about being sent home early, it was that slow. So what I did was made sure everything was where it was supposed to be in team sports, and then proceeded to check in with whoever was working in apparel and would help them with whatever they needed, whether it was opening the changing room, to recovering and refolding clothes before they went back to their appropriate spot. Not much to talk about other than I sold three goals to a man because I shared with him that we were having a sale and that's when he jumped up and bought more.
First day by myself. Opened up the gym and completed all my morning chores which were to turn on all electronic devices, make sure everything was put away and cleaned. From there I sat at the desk checking people in when arriving, checking their accounts to make sure they were all caught up on their payments. The Warden of the country president asked me to spot him on almost all of his lifts which gave me more experience with helping people lift.
My last day of training at Jack'D went well. Cain took me through what the middle shift person had to do. I helped him with replacing a fan in the standing tanning booth as well as move some machines over so that they were not uncomfortably close to each other. From there we sat and folded the towels that we cleaned, put them in their place, and the day was done.
These days were especially different and stressful to me because I had never done a store remodel yet and was finally able to experience it. It was especially stressful due to it being over night, but also this week I started my other internship and job at Jack'D Fitness, in Lancaster, Ohio. Monday throught Wednesday I was apart of completely downsizing the golf section on the 2nd floor. With Field and Stream teaming up with Dick's, the lodge department was completely taken out and moved to Field and Stream which meant that team sports had to move upstairs, and everything upstairs, had to condense. So Monday till Wednesday we moved everything over, took it apart, and put it all back together, which took longer than anticipated, due to unforeseen complications. Monday and Wednesday I had to arrive late to Dick's because I was being trained at the front desk for Jack'D. I clocked in and Tommy showed me the list of all the chores we had to do, accomplished them, then set me aside and showed me the membership process.
Then Wednesday till Friday I was reassigned to help the team sport associates with bringing up all the heavier equipment from the first floor, up to the second floor and organize it so they could put it on the shelves. On Wednesday I had to leave early from Easton due to it being my first night opening Jack'D with Aaron. Aaron took me through the opening procedures, about how to clean everything before the customers showed up, and then gave me more practice with the membership process, July 3rd was quite slow. Probably the slowest day of my short tenure at Dick's. I only regripped three sets up clubs, and repaired only one club, a driver. In my spare time, I was working on the 3-D swing monitor, making sure it was as accurate as it can be, which is essential when we are fitting a customer with the club or clubs, that they need. Also I was developing my customer service even more, even if the person had no intentions of buying something at the time. We pride ourselves on customer service and I had every intention of not disappointing. Following this shift, I found out I had to work overnights for the Dick's Sporting Goods in Easton.
Was back in Team Sports. This time I was not by myself, I had the help of one of my co-workers Brady. We split the section up to where I was in charge of soccer, baseball, and softball, while he was in basketball, football, and fitness. The day went quite smoothly. Had plenty of customer interaction, even had someone try and walk out with a few of our merchandise. I had a lot of business in baseball and soccer, ranging from fathers and sons coming in to get baseball bats, to families getting their youngest children soccer equipment. At the end of my shift I made sure all was well and that my area was properly recovered, and clocked out.
This weekend I worked back in my home department, golf. On Saturday my work was predominately in the area of ungripping and regripping clubs for the customers. The process was that the customer bought the grips, then brought them back to the counter, with their clubs, and then we handled it from there. The process for me took a second since I was by myself but once I was calmed and got in a groove, it went smoothly and quickly, and the customer left satisfied.
Then on Sunday, the 28th, I had to pull the signs off of the merchandise, then find each of the replacements for the signs and then placed them in their proper place. This was the first time I had to do it so it took a lot longer than it should have but the job was done. The rest of the day was spent providing customer service, but a predominately slow day. |
